Deadly Sin 1
Biting the cuticles and nails
Never nibble your cuticles and nails. If your cuticles are very dry use cuticle oil, Vaseline or almond oil – they all help smooth the cuticles and hands. Apply cuticle oil in the morning and in the evening and always keep your nails polished. Carefully push back cuticles twice a week using an orange stick but don’t cut them. Use a quality hand cream or moisturizer and apply it every time you need. There are some nail polishes that you can use to prevent nail and cuticle biting.
Try:
Revlon Cuticle Oil – it keeps the cuticles supple and soft and instantly moisturizes dry cuticles. (6.50 $)
Sally Hansen Cuticle Oil (4.50 $) – it enhances nail strengths and vitality, keeping your cuticles soft and well moisturized.
Orly No Bite Nail Polish (3.75 $) – it is a fast and effective bad tasting nail polish formulated to stop nail and cuticle biting.
Deadly Sin 2
Not removing the makeup at night
Not removing the makeup at night is the biggest deadly sin of skincare. It can be very damaging to your skin – the makeup clog your pores and breakouts may occur more frequent and most importantly your skin won’t be able to breathe. During the night your skin needs a break and that’s why it’s essential to remove the makeup and cleanse your face every day.
Deadly Sin 3
Overbleaching your teeth
Overbleaching your teeth may cause serious problems. Most of the teeth bleaching products contain oxidizing agents / hydrogen peroxide, carbonate peroxide/ to lighten the shade of the tooth can seriously damage the teeth – to increase the tooth sensitivity, to cause irritation of the soft tissues in the mouth.
If you bleach your teeth more than once a week, they will probably become overly sensitive and the tooth enamel can be weaken or seriously damaged.
Deadly Sin 4
Squeezing your pimples
Squeezing is a common way for many people to deal with pimples and cysts but it can seriously damage your skin. Never squeeze your pimples – squeezing of the delicate facial tissue often result in ugly scars and cause other pimples to form, you can spread bacteria and oils to the skin’s surface. Squeezing pimples sometimes may even leave open holes on your face, that are very difficult to remove later.
Instead of squeezing cleanse your face thoroughly and apply a face mask. A tonic containing alcohol will dry the pimples but use it carefully.
Deadly Sin 5
Applying too much makeup
We all have even seen a woman with too much makeup and we all know how it looks like – funny, unnatural and ugly. If you apply too much makeup, especially during the day your face will look like a mask. Maybe the reason for doing so is that you don’t know how to apply the makeup properly. Sometimes a light foundation that matches to your skin tone and a little bit of blusher and lipstick is enough. Never apply more than one layer of foundation and be careful with the blusher.
Deadly Sin 6
Not cleansing your face in the evening
A daily facial cleansing of the face is essential. That’s the only way to keep your skin clear, glowing and healthy looking. No matter how little time you have in the morning or how tired you are in the evening don’t forget to cleanse your skin. The skin becomes very dirty and oily during the day, due to the environmental pollutants – smoke, dust, greasy makeup etc. Choose a cleanser that suits your skin type. Favor products for sensitive skin, especially if your skin is dry — products with harsh ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid can do harm on certain skin types. Once you have found a cleanser that’s the proper Ph start using it in the morning and especially at night to remove the dirt. You shouldn’t use soaps on your face – they can be very harsh on your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin, using soap can dehydrate your skin.
