I'm still on the bench as to whether tanning beds are okay or not, but what you said is completely incorrect. Skin tanning is not a result of sun damage, the sun's UV rays trigger melanin cells in your skin, to brown your skin. They brown your skin so that your skin WON'T be damaged, they don't brown your skin as a sign of damage. A sign of damage is peeling skin, blisters etc. I recently went to a solarium and I have wierd little spots over the front of my biceps today (tanned 3 days ago at a solarium for 4 minutes, first time), I'm thinking they don't seem 'healthy', but until I get them checked out, I can't comment either way. So I'm not here to argue for or against tanning solariums, I'm just here to point out that there is nothing unhealthy about a 'tan', though the risk of burning in the sun is not healthy, considering you can't really sit out in the sun with a device telling you exactly when you are starting to burn, is why doctors advise not to tan at all.

first off it does not increase the risk of skin cancer....there is no proof!! tanning is natural for your body. SunBURNING is what causes the cancers....
there is absolutley nothing wrong with a pregnant woman tanning especially the fact that the beds produce vitamin D.
You shouldnt tan 2 time a day or everyday for that matter because your skin continues to tan for up to 48 hours after.....tanning everyday is a waste of money - it is more recommended everyother day until you have a base tan and then on average twice a week to maintain your tan
it is recommended u wipe off any eye make-up -- they may have photosenthisizing products which makes your skin more succeptable to burning.
they do have special lotions that range in price - the higher the price the better the skin care. the lotions main job is to keep your skin moisturized because you tan better with moisturize skin.
it wont damage your eyes because it is the law that everybody where protective eye googles - not doing so can cause cataracts and night vision loss.
wherever u go make sure the people know what theyt are talking about - look for certification. Proffessional places will skin type u based on a researched chart...that will determine the amount of time to put u in for.
You never burn and then turn into a tan - burning is damage to your skin

dear sebnem,

never go to a tanning bed while you are breast feeding. It isn't proven that the tanning bed can cause problems but it isn't also proven that it doesn't cause. Instead opt for a tanning lotion.

How does it affect you if you're breastfeeding? I have been to a few solariums that say there is no problem.
