How To Choose Your Beauty Salon
For many people, moving to a new town or area can be difficult from the standpoint of having to find new business with which to do business. Women especially, take their beauty salons quite seriously. So, if you’re wondering to choose your beauty salon in the new area that you’ve moved into, consider the following tips.
First of all, talk to your neighbors, especially the ones who have cool and stylish hairstyles. Don’t be afraid to compliment them on their cut and ask them point blank where they go to get their hair done. Word of mouth is the most reliable advertising method of all. Get the name of their stylist also so that when you book an appointment you get the same quality that your neighbor did.
Another way to find a salon is to take a look at the Yellow Pages. Inside these thin yellow pages you’ll find every conceivable beauty salon, barber and in home hair cutter with a business line. Don’t mistake the big ads for quality services. It simply means they had more money to invest in attracting your eye. Call several different locations and ask for an introductory meeting with either the manager or one of the hair stylists. Explain the type of look you like to maintain and what you’re looking to with you hair in the future. A good relationship is key between a hairstylist and her client. Make sure that you “click” with the person and that you feel comfortable with them doing your hair. If possible, ask for references or to look at a portfolio.
In this economy, businesses come and go. Ask the business how long they’ve been established and in this location. Ask the hair stylist who’s dong your hair how long she’s been there too. The last thing you want, other than a bad cut, is a hairstylist to up and move away on you in the middle of your relationship.
Start off small with your new stylist, having them cut your bangs or simply styling you hair instead of cutting it. This will give you a feel for how they work and how much they listen to your input.
You may not get the perfect salon on the first try, but there’s always another shop around the corner. If you’re not happy, simply don’t go back. Try someone new until you find the salon that’s going to suit your needs.
