Five – Minute Makeup
Foundation – to establish a proper and correct skin tone. The foundation covers both area coloration and blemish discoloration, it hides the little pimples, blackhead and whiteheads, brighten your skin and softens the appearance of fine lines. Choose a foundation in whichever texture you want. Light-diffusing foundation will give your skin radiance and a real finish. The matte foundation can make skin look dull so avoid using them.
Apply the foundation on your cheeks, chin, forehead and the sides of your nose and blend well. The best way to apply it is using your fingertips or a makeup sponge. Using fingertips will give the heaviest application, but a sponge gives a thinner application.
Concealer – for any trouble spots you may encounter. Dot the concealer only in places you need to. Start with a slightly darker tone and blend into with a sponge to match the lighter foundation in order to avoid creating light spots. Apply the concealer after the foundation to achieve best results. Make sure you haven’t applied too much concealer, otherwise your face may look overly made-up and fake.
Blush – to complement both your skin tone and the foundation type. Sweep blush across cheekbones where color naturally rises; apply a little at a time to build the desired color gradually. Use a soft circular motion from the centre of the cheekbones out. Blend as you apply, leaving no obvious color spots. Use apricot shades on pale skin and dusty roses on darker skins.
Eyeshadow – in a light, shimmering shade to makes your eyes sparkle. Apply eyeshadow all over your eyes, beginning at the lash line and working up into the crease. If your eyeshadows always crease you should use a powder shadow rather than a cream shadow. For longer lasting eyeshadows apply an eyeshadow base or concealer all over the eyelids.
Mascara – to highlight your eyes. Before applying mascara comb the eyebrows into the desired shape. Curl your lashes with a sponge or with an eyelash curler. It helps make the lashes appear longer and is effective for short, straight lashes. Look down into a mirror and stroke lashes upwards with just the tip of the brush. Make sure that the wand isn’t overloaded with mascara, if it is take some off with a tissue before applying. Let the first coat dry and then apply the second coat.
Lipstick or lip gloss – to finish the look. Choose lipstick in a shade that harmonizes nicely with the other colors. The creamy lipsticks go on more slightly and are better for moisturizing your lips. Line the lip line with a pencil in an identical color to the lipstick. If you want to accentuate the lip size use a lip liner one tone darker than the lipstick. Before reapplying your lipstick, make sure you get all the old stuff off first. Powder your lips with loose powder before applying lip gloss or lipstick and it will stay longer.
