Top Products For Your Skin

The market today is flooded with all sorts of products to enhance the quality of people’s lives. This includes all types of health supplements and beauty products. Out of these, skin care products have the lions share. Keeping the skin young and healthy looking is top priority for many people. After all, nothing shows a person’s age and health in the way skin can. Therefore, manufacturers have responded to this demand by creating a whole host of products for skin care. The problem is that not all of these products are created the same.

Naturally, some will be superior to others. The trick is to find the one suitable for you.

Basically, skin care products can be divided into two main groups. One type will serve a medicinal purpose, to take care of blemishes such as acne and pimples. The second type is designed for the skin itself. The primary purpose of this type of product is to make the skin as young and healthy as possible. Unfortunately, not all of them are capable of accomplishing this. In this article we will be focusing on the second type of skin care products. The following are some helpful tips in finding the best skin care products.

The water factor

Many skin care products today use water as one of their main ingredients. The problem with this is that the presence of water can actually hinder the skin from getting the necessary nutrients. Therefore, make sure water is not high on the list of ingredients. If possible, choose one that does not use water at all.

Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol, also known as isopropyl alcohol, is widely used in many skin care products today. This is especially true with skin care products designed to kill bacteria. It may be effective for this type of purpose, but on the other hand, it is highly irritating for human skin. It will also dry the skin to unacceptable levels. However, it may difficult to find alcohol in the list of products. A basic rule of thumb would be to look for any ingredient that ends with the letters “ol.” If it does, then it most likely will contain some form of alcohol.

Cleaning agents

Cleaning agents are also known as surfactants. There are many chemicals which come under the description of a surfactant. These chemicals can be found in many common household items such as dish washing soap etc. The purpose of any surfactant is to cleanse the surface and get rid of any oil and dirt. This is fine when used on pots and pans, but not for the skin. Many skin care products use these chemicals. The names of some of them would be potassium, Ammonium bromide, sodium lauryl sulfate etc.

The point of all this is that it is best to stay away from skin care products which are mostly, if not all, chemical based. Therefore, the best skin care products are the ones with natural ingredients. So what are the natural products to look for in skin related products?

To start with, there are the old favorites such as aloe vera and coconut oil. These two products have been used for hundreds, if not thousands of years in some cultures to protect and preserve the skin. They keep the skin young and healthy by providing it with nutrients and moisture. Aloe vera and coconut oil has also been known for their ability to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

As time went by, researchers discovered more and more natural products useful for skin protection. Some examples would be CoQ10, macadamia nuts, grape seed oil, tea tree oil, babassu, cocoa butter, manuka honey, avocado oil, shea butter and jojoba oil. Honey, the kind that is eaten, is also used in many skin care products due to its excellent anti-bacterial qualities. The bottom line is that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not have much control over the manufacture of skin care products. This means manufacturers can add just about anything they want in their product. This is all the more reason why it is better to go with natural ingredients for the best skin care product.
